I am still thanking God for the day Daphne DeMaris came to Calvary for the first time. A woman in our congregation had heard Daphne speak at another event and was led to bring her name to the table when our Women’s Ministry Leadership Team was planning a special multi-generational event under the theme of “Not LOST; Finding Sisterhood in Christ”. Her deeply earnest, insightful approach to teaching coupled with personal sharing and her own life experiences captured the hearts of our women, both young and old alike.It was shortly after she keynoted this event for us, and through her encouragement, that we aspired to raise up a new ministry at Calvary we now call Women4Girls – a ministry devoted to empowering and equipping women to nurture and lead girls age 11 through high school in small groups in order to grow their self-esteem, instill values of sexual purity, and encourage healthy attitudes and treatment of their bodies. Daphne continues to be a lifeline of encouragement and resource to our leadership team, both personally and professionally. Her ability to “speak the truth in love” models this attribute of Christ to everyone she meets.
Anyone who is ready to have heart and mind opened to holy truth and new life possibilities (even missions!) can benefit from spending even one hour with Daphne DeMaris. God’s anointing is obviously upon her.
